Kurzweil and Google

Apparently Ray Kurzweil just joined Google.  He’s quite an inventive genius who thinks we will reach Singularity by around 2030 when computers will become ‘smarter’ than humans and start building other computers.

In his younger days he did a lot of pioneering software for music, speech synthesis and text recognition which have since become mainstream.  (Speech to text, text to speech,  synthesizers)

Here is a version of a plot toward  singularity (which he says will have implications not just for IT but also for medicine, other fields as well):

So as we deal with the daily limitations of our IT technology experience – at least we see some light at the ‘end’ of the tunnel  ;-)

Of course, what is missing here is the fact that we humans may mess everything up since our political and behavioral systems seem to be going logarithmically in the opposite direction of late!!   Watson III and robots to the rescue?  ;-)
